It wouldn’t be a long stretch to say that some of us do need a change of pace to help remind ourselves that there is inner peace within the chaos of urban city life.
That is why some 23,000 runners took the challenge to run in five unique, iconic locations all around Singapore. The distances differed between the runners, some taking up the 2.5km and 5km Exploration Runs in a bid to have a consistent healthier lifestyle while running through beautiful landscapes. Others chose the 10km Competitive Run, in a bid to challenge themselves to run consistently through all five timed runs and see if there were any improvements within each of the runs.
The races combined all the elements to provide a unique running experience to all.
The social media hashtag for the Performance Series Runs is #TranscendYourself and throughout the four runs, the participants did have a chance to do so. Through the wandering miles of Singapore’s colourful running routes, the participants all took the opportunity to run through alternative routes.
Participants got to run through the recently opened Coney Island, the paths of the Punggol Waterway, feel almighty small amongst the electric towers of artificial botany at Gardens by the Bay, tracks along the reservoirs and even journeys near farms.
With one more run in the works, this time taking place in the Kranji Countryside, the first Performance Series is sure to make Singapore’s running history as one of the few organised events to see consistency and persistence amongst its participants.
