Run for Hope 2019 is happening this Sunday, 17 Feb 2019 at the Singapore Sports Hub. With a 10km route along the Kallang River for more committed runners and a shorter 3.5km route around the Sports Hub precinct, this year’s Run For Hope aims to continue raising awareness and support for cancer research.
The annual run is organised by Four Seasons Hotel Singapore and the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). Run for Hope is an international event organised by Four Seasons Hotels worldwide. It was started when Isadore Sharp, CEO and founder of the Canadian-based Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, lost his fourth son Christopher to melanoma cancer in 1978. In memory of his son, Mr Sharp spearheaded a worldwide programme that established annual runs raising funds for cancer research in cities where their hotels and resorts are located.
The Four Seasons Hotel Singapore has been supporting local cancer research through an annual run since 1993, making this the single largest run in aid of cancer research here. Beginning in 2008, they have been partnering the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) to raise awareness and support for critical, life-saving research by dedicated scientists at the Centre.
The event maintains its tradition as a non-competitive leisure run. So everyone can join in the worthy cause, and complete the distance at your own pace. In Singapore, funds raised from the event will be donated to the NCC Research Fund.
