This year’s Fitness Fest by AIA is happening on 27 April at the Marina Bay Sands. The full day event will feature plenty of mass workouts, a healthy living show, and a Food Village.
Creator of the Sweat FIERCE Programme, Chontel Duncan, will be there conducting her FIERCE Bootcamp, an "AMRAP-style" workout for the first time in Asia!
The co-founder of HIIT Australia and mother of two is also a SWEAT app trainer, and she shares what we can expect in this interview.
Q: How did you discover your passion for fitness?
Chotel Duncan: I have always been very active and played many competitive sports growing up. After High school - like many people - I spent time trying to understand where I wanted to go in my career but eventually got back into fitness after a short break and rediscovered my passion.
Once I experienced the incredible changes health and fitness had on my life and the way it helped me through some challenging times, I knew I wanted to help others to find the light at the end of the tunnel.
Over time, health and fitness has become a way to build mental and physical resilience. For me, being fit and healthy allows my body to be in its best form so I can be the best version of myself for my family.
Q: How was the FIERCE workout developed?
Chotel Duncan: Finding my passion for fitness through high intensity combination training changed my life for the better and I wanted to share my experience with others so they too could find what inspires them and make their health a priority.
I developed FIERCE based on how I personally like to train myself and my clients. I wanted to ensure that everyone can get the most out of my program and continue to grow week to week as the program becomes more detailed. Through FIERCE, my overall goal is to help and inspire as many people as I can through health and fitness.
Q: What can participants expect from you at FitnessFest 2019?
Chotel Duncan: I am so excited to be in Singapore for Asia Fitness Fest! I will be taking participants through a live FIERCE session which will motivate you through a high-intensity ‘AMRAP-style’ workout that will push you out of your comfort zone and leave you feeling fierce!
Q: What is your idea of relaxation?
Chotel Duncan: Each week I always make sure to allocate 30 minutes a day for “me time” once my sons have gone to bed. I put my phone down and sit on the couch for some much needed zen time. The weekends are my time for family playing outside or swimming in the pool. Scheduling in personal time or self-improvement time ensures I take time out for myself and can recharge my batteries.
