Good for speed work like intervals and short tempo runs, the Under Armour HOVR Velociti 2 was a popular lightweight, neutral trainer that won the hearts of many. It had a great upper fit with an engineered one-piece mesh that has a moulded full-length EVA sock liner that goes nicely around the foot, making it feel very comfortable. In the midsole is the HOVR cushioning technology that gives energy return and its blown rubber outsole makes for a light, bouncy feel.

In anticipation of the new Velociti 3, UA Run Crew Singapore leaders share their thoughts.

The Velociti 2 is also a Bluetooth-connected shoe that syncs your runs with UA’s MapMyRun app to give you analytics like cadence and foot stride landing.

Sebastian Cheong said, “My take on the Velociti series is that it provides lightweight racing shoes with the support of trainer shoes, with a good level of cushioning from the HOVR foam that gives energy return for faster runs. It has a well-ventilated upper that is mesh-engineered with small holes so your feet will not overheat on hot days or when running fast.

“The Velociti however, is a narrow-fitting shoe so I wouldn’t recommend it to runners who have wider feet especially at the toe box area. The Velociti is suitable for flat road, treadmills and stadium tracks. I look forward to the Velociti 3 which comes with more breathability with its open organic pattern in the upper and new energy web wrap for a more modern design.”

Similarly, Nelson Wong likes how the Velociti 2 makes him want to go fast. He added, “It’s great for speed training or tempo runs. I love the lightweight design and it fits well out of the box (not too roomy or tight) without much adjustment needed.

“I like the upper that hugs the foot comfortably. The firm fitting of the lace cage and heel counter also feels great for my 5 to 10km runs or speed training on the track. The shoes give snappy ground contact that I need from racers, without being too soft or too stiff. The midsole cushioning is decent to ensure a smooth ride and aesthetically it looks good too!”

The all-new UA Velociti 3 is now available here.
