Decathlon has unleashed its latest store in Singapore on 12th September. Located at The Centrepoint by Frasers Property Singapore, the new 2-storey store spans a total of 3,200 square metres. It will feature a wide variety of sporting goods, modern technological systems and Virtual Reality test zones amongst other firsts for the brand.
Decathlon Orchard will be offering more than 5,000 products across 60 sports developed and manufactured internally by Decathlon Group. The store will house a wide range of sporting apparel and equipment for indoor and outdoor activities.
Environmental Sustainability and Technological Advancements
This will be the first outlet in Singapore to be equipped with 100% digital balisage. Thanks to this transformation, there will be no paper used throughout the two-storey store to display product information. This reduction in paper usage greatly furthers Decathlon’s commitment to sustainability.
The store also incorporates the use of service robots from PAL Robotics on each level to ensure stock accuracy and automate the inventory process. This time-saving technology allows store teammates to focus on addressing shoppers’ needs instead.
Various Payment Methods
The sporting brand also recently launched its new Decathlon App, which features a Scan & Pay function that enables users to scan product tags/QR codes to retrieve in-depth product information and reviews. Shoppers also get to skip the queue through checking out and paying in-app.
Besides the Scan & Pay function, shoppers can also make purchases on-the-go and collect their products in just 2 hours at any one of Decathlon's 7 Click & Collect stores islandwide. Alternatively, one can also get products delivered to their homes via delivery options available on the app.
Otherwise, shoppers can simply head to any payment kiosk located on the second level. They are located in different aisles and provide a decentralized payment process, ideal for the current COVID-19 situation.
3D Foot Scanner
A feature of interest for RUN Singapore and our runners would be the 3D morphological machine situated at the running aisle — a first for any Decathlon store in Singapore. Users can get accurate, personalised 3D measures of their foot size and gait in order to purchase the right shoe for their sports practice. If you have never done any analysis or scanning before, this would be a good thing to try.
Do make sure you wear shorts or bottoms that can be rolled up to the knee to enable the scanning to happen. Additionally, there is also a testing zone so that you can check how the shoes fares on the track in the store itself.
Head to Orchard to check out the newest Decathlon yourself!
