We caught up with the Juliana Afanaseva, a Russian fashion model when she was in Singapore for work engagements recently, and discovered that the secret to her figure is running!
What's your go-to fitness routine?
I try to run at least 3km every morning, especially when I am in different countries. It really helps me to get used to weather, and time zone. I also do pilates and yoga, which are good for my back and core strength. I’m also big fan of hiking! It’s a good way to explore parks and nature reserves.
Do you have a dietary plan to help maintain your figure and fitness?
I’ve been a vegetarian for two years, and decided on it after I read a lot of science articles about healthy eating, and after weighing the pros and cons of everything, I decided that going meat-free was the way for me.
Why do you enjoy running?
When I am running, I have ‘me’ time, and it helps me to think about my life decisions while I enjoy the scenery of the parks in the city that I am in. I also really enjoy racing with the running community because of the positive atmosphere and supportive vibes
I recently completed my first half-marathon because I wanted to test myself. At every race, I challenge myself to get better and I am looking forward to going even further.
What are your sports apparels of choice?
For casual clothes, I like Kappa and for running, I like ASICS shoes for their fit and performance features.
Did you enjoy the parkrun in Singapore?
I was running in West Coast Park with the parkrun crew almost every Saturday here, and really like the work of the organising team and how they always have a lot of volunteers. I think that joining a parkrun is nice opportunity to meet new people from all over the world.
