The Insider’s Tip to a Great Running Year with U Run All Access

URAA RunSG 2

Running as a form of exercise and leisure activity can be a simple thing, but the buzz that you get from running in and finishing organised races simply cannot be replicated elsewhere! If you’ve just finished your first real race at the recent Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2018, you’ll definitely understand the feeling.

However, the cost of attending races throughout the year can add up to quite a hefty amount, and the intrepid bargain hunter in you will no doubt be on the lookout for a way to attend races at guaranteed discount rates.

The Race Savvy, Cost-effective Pack

The U Run All Access (URAA) Package, marketed by U Sports, is quite possibly the best running pass for avid runners in Singapore who want to attend plenty of races and save a fair amount while at it.

You can purchase run credits at a one-off affordable price, instantly granting you three run credits for guaranteed race slots in the list of popular local races happening in 2019. You are also entitled to a whole bunch of cool fringe benefits like exclusive training sessions, insider news on the running scene, and the opportunity to train with the U Sports’ Running Interest Group.

The best part is, for a single, discounted price, you get to choose your entry to three major road races in Singapore for 2019, anytime.

With the average entry fees of half marathons in Singapore costing upwards of S$70, attending three races annually will cost you more than $200 in non-discounted entry fees. However, if you are already an NTUC or nEbO member, a URAA Package costs only S$159 for three guaranteed entry passes. Non-nEbO youths aged 18–25 will receive a complimentary nEbO Max membership with every URAA sign up, and still enjoy the package at $159. That’s incredible value by any standard. Non-members can still pick up the package at a discounted rate of $189.

Getting More from URAA

We know about how life is often dropping last-minute notices on you. You may have signed up for a race, only to discover later that you have to travel for a work trip on the same weekend! Being a URAA member does away with these insecurities, as race slots are guaranteed.

This means that you can decide to join a race long after the official registration deadline for the early bird rates and discounts have passed. Even just days before the registration closes, you can pull the weight of your URAA membership and get registered for the event at a very affordable rate of $53/race, deducted from your URAA credits. This takes the stress out of having to commit early and risk missing the race if you have to be elsewhere on the day.

The URAA also opens the doors to the U Sports Running Group, an awesome way to meet and network with like-minded leisure runners. Meets take place every Wednesday at 7.00P.M., alternating between Velocity at Novena on the first and third Wednesdays of the month and One Marina Boulevard on the second and fourth. Drinks and light refreshments are available at every meet.

Completely free for URAA members, you can simply show up at the appointed times to train and chat with the group, which typically covers distances between 5km to 10km. These are usually slower paced sessions, but if you’re training for an upcoming race, there will be others in the group doing so too, and you can increase your pace accordingly.

The group leaders will plan interval training and hill running sessions to build specific skillsets, if you prefer to follow a training plan of sorts. If you’re aiming to finish events strong, the extra motivation of being with other like-minded individuals is of great help in keeping you motivated.
