Welcome to the Jungle, We’ve Got Fun and Games

The Columbia Jungle Run 2017 prides itself as a run that is all-new and all-adventure.

Parent-children bonding runs can seem a little passé in Singapore because after you’ve seen one, you’ve more or less seen it all. The same old routes, the same franchises, the same trite attractions. It can get boring, especially when trying to relate to your wunderkind.

So when you have a run that is all-new, all-adventure, and references one of the unknown routes of Singapore, where you can actually run in a natural-esque jungle obstacle race, you have to jump in with both feet first.

The Columbia Jungle Run 2017 opens up a privately-operated jungle setting in Centaurs Sports Park, Turf City in the Bukit Timah area. Organised by the Centaurs Group, sponsored by Columbia Sportswear and co-sponsored by World of Sports and Thorlos, the event will get families to run approximately 5km through twisted, untamed tracks, with natural and manmade obstacles on the Centaurs Jungle Trail and in The Pit.

The route has not been run before, but the organisers have promised obstacles such as river runs, bank climbs, wall jumps and balance beams and more which will test runners on their agility and nimbleness. Field-based challenges will also be involved, including scramble nets, barrier hurdles, and tyre jumps. While it will not be a smooth course, this will be a smaller, lower-scale test of will and strength for families and will still pose a challenge for all involved.

The venue itself is known for dynamic kids’ parties and is the site of the Jungle Cross Mountain Bike series, so you know they have experience tailoring the challenge to parents, children, and thrill-seekers alike. Families are encouraged to join this event because of its unique features, with categories for individuals and parent-child combinations.

The event will culminate in a race village that will celebrate local vendors. Known as The Bukit Timah Community Village,  all entrants and others can partake in fun activities, as well as find food and beverages.

Registration for the event is still ongoing, so if you’re planning a family bonding event this October for Children’s Day, or are interested in running a whole new course, purchase your tickets over at the RUN Shop.

Registration will close on the 17th of September.
